The profession of a doctor is becoming attractive and prestigious. At present, the country’s health workers earn about 420,000 tenge on average and their salary will continue to grow further. Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov announced this at the Government’s meeting. According to him, the Government has set the main task for itself that is to improve the quality and accessibility of medical care for every Kazakh citizen.
“The considerable funds are being allocated for the construction of new health facilities, the purchase of medical equipment, the introduction of modern technologies and the training of personnel. Thus, many expensive medical tests have become available in the country, and last year we opened Central Asia’s first Gamma Knife Center for radiosurgical treatment of diseases,” said Smailov.
He also drew attention to the insufficient amount of medical service provided as part of the guaranteed volume of free medical care and compulsory health insurance. In this regard, he instructed the Health and Finance ministries to draft proposals for improving their funding by November 1.
