Kazakhstan is set to address the personnel shortage in the field of water resources management. The relevant ministry is proposing the inclusion of 11 new specializations in the educational programs of universities. These include land reclamation specialists, hydraulic engineers, experts in irrigation systems, water supply and wastewater management, and professionals in water diplomacy. Students of specialized universities will undergo practical training in organizations under the ministry. Similar specializations are also proposed for inclusion in master's and doctoral programs. Moreover, grants for studying abroad and professional development centers for water industry professionals are planned.
“Furthermore, in
cooperation with international partners, we are launching a new specialty:
water diplomacy. Additionally, current employees need to undergo advanced
training courses. For this purpose, we organize such courses to familiarize our
employees with cutting-edge water saving technologies. At present, the new
Water Code is being prepared, and a concept for water resources management has
been developed. Our employees should be well-informed about all these
developments and apply them in practice,” said Bolat Bekniyaz, Kazakh First
Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.
