The Kazakh capital will host the Astana International Forum
(AIF) on May 29-30, with a large delegation from the United Nations (UN) set to
participate. The UN has joined the forum as a strategic partner. Stephen
O'Malley, UN Interim Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan, noted that amid
ongoing geopolitical tensions, the forum will serve as a key platform for
constructive dialogue, addressing topical issues and generating new ideas. This
once again underscores Kazakhstan’s commitment to peace and prosperity.
«Kazakhstan, I think, is in such an interesting place because
you are a link between the North and the South, the East and the West.
Everybody talks about different corridors where Kazakhstan is the main player.
So yes, I think there are possibilities for these issues. If I look at the
agenda, and I think the organizers have done a fantastic job, there are more
than 30 different panels and speakers. I mean, I think these issues are going
to be very much front and centre, and I am very much hopeful that we’ll get
some really interesting ideas out of it. I mean, certainly we have the right
people who are coming to the forum for this,» O'Malley said.
