«UN-80: Unfiltered» photo exhibition opens in Astana

An exhibition showcasing a history in photographs of people, missions, and the work of the United Nations around the world has opened at the Presidential Center in Astana to mark the UN’s 80th anniversary. The photographs stand out for capturing the genuine, unposed emotions of their subjects – doctors and nurses on the frontlines of the pandemic, peacekeepers providing aid in conflict zones, diplomats and heads of state making pivotal decisions, and volunteers devoted to the cause of peace and humanitarian work. Notably, some of the images also highlight Kazakhstan’s contributions as a UN member for more than three decades.

«This is an exhibition which displays 80 altogether, in total 80 photos which have never been published before, which we got all from the United Nations archives. So this is, I think, in my view, it’s a very good opportunity for those who come today and who will visit for next few weeks to see some of the images which demonstrate, you know, how the UN actually works in the field, how the UN actually delivers humanitarian assistance, and how the UN is actually also assisting governments on their development agendasaid Sarangoo Radnaaragchaa, UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan.
