Transport sector indicators grew by almost 22.5% in the
first four months of this year, showing the highest growth dynamics in
Kazakhstan’s GDP. According to preliminary results of the country’s
socio-economic development for January–April, this growth was driven by higher
volumes of freight transportation by rail and pipeline. Particularly strong
performance was recorded in the Turkistan, Zhambyl, and Abai regions. ¤Experts
attribute the significant rise in freight traffic to road construction and the
launch of new railway routes across the country.
«This year, two projects will be completed. The first is the
second tracks on the Dostyk–Moiynty section, spanning about 800 kilometers,
which will help increase the number of train and cargo passing along this
section. The second is the Almaty bypass. We have already announced the launch
of a project for the construction of a new section Kyzylzhar–Moiynty, which
will serve as an additional section. Altogether, this set of initiatives will
give a new impetus to upgrading the railway network and increasing its capacity,»
noted Zhanibek Taizhanov, Chairman of the Committee at the Kazakh Ministry of
Transport.
