Over a thousand seedlings were planted on the territory of the Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve as part of the large-scale environmental campaign Taza Qazaqstan. Young people and schoolchildren contributed to replenishing the forest fund in the Zhetimsai Gorge, located at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level. The unique ecosystem is included in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve list. It is home to more than 1,300 plant species, as well as snow leopards, brown bears, and Turkistan lynxes. According to the organizers, the volunteers’ contribution was an important step in preserving nature. Overall, more than one million new trees are set to be planted in the Turkistan region this year.
«More than 30 of our
students and around 20 young professionals are taking part in the Taza
Qazaqstan campaign. I am also personally involved as a volunteer. I believe
that if every young person supports such initiatives, our country will become
even more beautiful and well-kept,» shared eco-activist Madina Assanbai.
