European experts commend Kazakhstan’s new Constitution

European experts have welcomed the entry into force of Kazakhstan’s new Constitution. Alberto Turkstra, Project Director at Diplomatic World, says the Basic Law reflects the country’s deep political and institutional modernization. According to him, the reforms are designed to improve the efficiency of public administration, broaden political competition, and strengthen the role of political parties. The new Constitution also places particular emphasis on the development of science, education, and innovation. In the expert’s view, these areas form the foundation for sustainable development, with human capital and the potential of young people becoming key resources.

«The change from two chambers to one chamber which will make the whole institutional setup much more agile, much more resilient, much more responsive to the needs of the citizens. It’s a whole new society, it’s a whole new economic model. It sends a signal to the foreign investors, to the foreign markets. It’s a signal of stability, institutional and legal stability, institutional and legal predictability, political modernization, and a long-term strategy which really sets the tone for the decades to come for Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan-EU partnership,» noted Alberto Turkstra, Project Director at Diplomatic World.
