The international vocal
competition Silk Way Star is expanding its horizons. The project anthem was
performed at the 5th Global Media Innovation Forum in Chongqing.
The song was performed by Kazakh singer Rukhiya Baidukenova, who is representing Kazakhstan in the second season of the competition, alongside Chinese singer Zhang Hexuan, a finalist from the first season. The composition was written by Kazakh composer Khamit Shangaliev. According to forum participants, the performance underscored Kazakhstan’s role in fostering international cultural cooperation along the Silk Road. Silk Way Star has been implemented under an agreement between the Kazakh President’s TV and Radio Complex and China Media Group. The show’s first Grand Finale was held in Astana in 2025 and was broadcast live in several countries. Overall, the project reached audiences in 43 countries and attracted more than 143 million viewers.
