Kazakhstan is simplifying electronic trade with Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries. The Senate, an upper house of the Kazakh Parliament, has approved amendments to the EAEU Customs Code agreement. The new e-commerce rules establish a legal framework, streamline customs procedures, and strengthen oversight of the safety of products sold online. The changes will also generate revenue for the state budget through customs duties and taxes.
«The concept of an “e-commerce operator” is being
introduced, along with a new type of customs declaration – the e-commerce
declaration. The document also includes other provisions aimed at improving
customs administration. The law is expected to further promote e-commerce
cooperation among EAEU member states,» Senate Chairperson Maulen Ashimbayev said.
