Kazakhstan sees increase in electricity generated from renewable energy facilities

The electricity generated from renewable energy facilities increased by 21 percent in Kazakhstan in a year and amounted to almost four billion kilowatt-hours. The largest volume of 1.6 billion kilowatt-hours fell on wind farms, with the annual growth rate of 38.5 percent. The solar power plants generated slightly less, which is about 1.5 billion. Small hydro power plants generated electricity reached over 17.5 percent, a little more than a year earlier. The share from bioelectric power plants decreased to one million kilowatt-hours instead. Meanwhile, 103 billion tenge was invested in the country’s green economy. The bulk of investments was accounted for the Zhambyl, Aktobe and Akmola regions.
