Roza Baglanova International Vocal Competition concludes in Astana

The final stage of the international vocal competition named after Roza Baglanova was held in Astana. The finalists performed at the Kazakhstan Central Concert Hall, named in honor of the legendary People’s Artist. Sixteen participants, selected online from hundreds of applicants, performed on stage. Among those who made it to the third stage were singers from Central Asian countries. The best of the best were judged by renowned artists from the region. Each contestant had to perform two songs accompanied by an orchestra, with one being from Roza Baglanova’s repertoire. The prize fund for the first international competition was five million tenge.

«I’ve been listening to Roza Baglanova’s songs since childhood. I try to sing all her songs, but it’s difficult to perform them because she has her own unique technique. I come from Uzbekistan, and our people have known the legendary singer very well since the Soviet times. She has a one-of-a-kind voice,» said Amanzhol Yeskermessov, contestant from Uzbekistan.
