The manufacturing industry accounts for more
than 12 percent of Kazakhstan’s economy, on par with the share of the mining
and metallurgical complex. Among the enterprises demonstrating a high level of
technological growth are the Almaty fan and the Kentau transformer plants,
whose products are fully compliant with international standards. In a series of
interviews about the country’s socio-economic development and the ongoing work
to implement instructions given by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, First
Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar spoke about further diversification of the
economy and ensuring growth in the manufacturing sector. According to him,
there are similar enterprises in other regions.
However,
not only the development of the manufacturing industry but also single-industry
towns are changing the country’s economic situation. One
such town is Ekibastuz, which currently produces 72 percent of the country’s
railway engineering products. The largest ferroalloy plant will also begin
operations in the city in June. Besides, local production in Saran is set to produce
one million of the latest tires this year. Kostanai can be proud of the world’s
most modern cast iron plant, Sklyar noted.
«The
manufacturing industry is a top priority. We will continue
to work in this direction by actively increasing the share of local content,
attracting investments, and others. This will allow us to fulfill the main task
of creating high-performance, well-paid jobs for our young people. Thus, a whole locomotive will be
formed, entailing the promotion of export potential, import substitution, and
taxes to the budget, which are paid by enterprises,» Sklyar said.
