32 amendments to be introduced into EAEU treaty

The EAEU member states are now eligible to impose quarantine or adopt other urgent phytosanitary measures against pathogens and other harmful organisms not included in the Unified List to ensure food security. Today, members of the Senate, an Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament, approved the ratification of the Protocol on amendments to the EAEU Treaty. The document includes 32 amendments, concerning not only phytosanitary and veterinary measures but also technical regulation, consumer rights protection, non-tariff regulation, competition and public procurement.

“Thus, provisions for mutual recognition of national electronic digital signatures are introduced with the amendments. This will ensure the access to participation in procurement conducted in electronic format, strengthen trade and economic ties between our countries, and increase the export opportunities of our commodity producers,” said Arman Utegulov, Member of the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament.

Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan to mutually simplify procedure for stay of citizens

The Senate has also approved the ratification of the law amending the agreement between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the terms of mutual travel for citizens. The document provides for a simplified procedure – without temporary registration – for their stay in the territory of another state for up to 30 calendar days from the moment of crossing the state border. It bears noting that previously this period was five days.
