Astana’s gross regional product reaches 4.7 trillion tenge

The gross regional product (GRP) of Astana reached 4.753 trillion tenge, representing a growth of over four percent in the first 11 months of this year. Overall, the city’s economy attracted around 1.3 trillion tenge in investments. Astana mayor Zhenis Kassymbek presented the socio-economic indicators of the capital, noting that the number of active small and medium-sized businesses increased, surpassing 230,000. The volume of retail turnover exceeded two trillion tenge. The construction industry remains the main driver of the city's economic growth. In 2023, around 3.5 million square meters of housing were commissioned. There are significant prospects for the future as well.

“Following the instructions of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a new master plan for the city’s development until 2035 has been designed. This document outlines the construction of 178 new kindergartens, 164 schools, and 93 healthcare facilities. The draft master plan has been developed in coordination with the city’s community and members of the Maslikhat, and has undergone the necessary examinations,” Kassymbek said.
