A unified platform for subsoil users has
been launched in Kazakhstan, featuring an interactive map and access to over
50,000 geological reports. The country has also streamlined business processes
for obtaining licenses for exploration and extraction activities. Additionally,
a comprehensive plan for the development of the industry has been adopted.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev informed Helen Clark, the Chair of the
Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Board, about regulatory
measures in the subsoil use sector. The Head of State emphasized Kazakhstan’s
commitment to adhering to the organization’s standards since its accession. At
the legislative level, the obligation for subsoil users to comply with EITI
requirements and provide reports on taxes and other payments to the country’s
budget has been enshrined. Helen Clark commended Kazakhstan’s efforts and
shared the organization’s strategic plans and key priorities for the upcoming
period.
