The United Nations
(UN) needs reform, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated during a panel
session at the Doha Forum conference. Speaking as a guest of honor at the event
held under the banner «Dialogue, Diplomacy and Diversity», President Tokayev
underscored the importance of the UN’s effective work and the growing role of
middle powers. The Head of State emphasized that bridges should be built
between the major powers, the absence of which has unfortunately led the
Security Council into a deadlock. Middle powers, including Kazakhstan, can play
a very important role in promoting peace and security both at the regional and
global levels. President Tokayev also shared his views on issues related to
global trade, Kazakhstan’s foreign policy, and the role of youth in the
country’s development.
