Kazakhstan and Indonesia are focusing on strengthening
trade and economic cooperation. Its potential was discussed by Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for
Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto. Last year, the trade turnover
between the two countries exceeded $244 million, while in the first quarter of 2026 it amounted to $31.5 million. The parties believe there are
significant opportunities to further increase these figures. As for
Kazakhstan’s exports, they are mainly composed of processed goods, metallurgy,
and chemical products. Indonesia, in turn, supplies electronics and textiles to
Kazakhstan. Overall, the meeting identified new areas for mutually beneficial
cooperation, particularly in energy, industry, agriculture, the textile sector,
Islamic banking, the digital economy, education, and tourism. Special attention
was also given to the development of transport and logistics routes, including
the potential use of Kazakhstan’s transit capacity.
