Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev arrived in Belarus to participate in the Collective Security Council
session of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO). Belarus
President Alexander Lukashenko greeted the Head of State at the Palace of
Independence in Minsk. Prior to the meeting, a joint photography ceremony
featuring the leaders of the CSTO member states, including the presidents of
Kazakhstan, Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, took place. During the
session, issues related to ensuring the collective security of the member
states were discussed. Additionally, the results of the implementation of the
CSTO’s activities this year were summarized, and plans for the upcoming period
were outlined. Furthermore, the Heads of State exchanged views on the global
agenda. President Tokayev noted that developments in the Middle East and the
challenging situation in Afghanistan are of particular concern. He called on
the international community to continue providing assistance to the Afghan
people. President Tokayev stated that he shares the concerns of CSTO partners
regarding the level of traditional threats, including the increase in drug
trafficking, arms proliferation, cross-border crime, and illegal migration.
Kazakhstan is ready to continue working jointly with the member states of the
organization to address these challenges.
