Kazakh, Chinese Presidents hold talks

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Akorda presidential palace. The Head of State emphasized that the visit is a vivid testament to the unwavering friendship between the two countries. Today, bilateral relations have entered a new ‘golden period’, contributing to the socio-economic development of both nations. By the end of last year, bilateral trade reached a record $44 billion. The President also noted the high level of cooperation between Kazakhstan and China within international and regional organizations, including the UN, SCO, CICA, BRICS+, and the ‘Central Asia – China’ format.

«China is a good neighbor, close friend, and reliable partner of Kazakhstan. Thanks to your personal support, Kazakh-Chinese cooperation has been developing at an unprecedented pace in the spirit of a comprehensive and everlasting strategic partnership. A careful study of our common history shows that relations between our two countries have always been built on friendship and cooperation, without any conflicts or obstacles. They have always been distinguished by mutual understanding and goodwill. The Chinese people have never harmed the Kazakh people,» Tokayev said.

President Tokayev described China as a good neighbor and a time-tested, reliable strategic partner of Kazakhstan. He noted that relations between the two countries are consistently stable and remain unaffected by geopolitical challenges, upheavals, or fluctuations in the global market.

«China never sets any political conditions in its cooperation with Kazakhstan. We appreciate your unwavering support for our sovereignty and security guarantees. We support China’s peace-loving initiatives and highly appreciate your country’s key role in building a fair world order,» Tokayev added.

The Head of State emphasized that the Chinese company CNNC (China National Nuclear Corporation) is considered a strategic partner in the project to construct another nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan. In turn, Xi Jinping expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that under the leadership of President Tokayev, Kazakhstan has embarked on a path of national revival and continues to achieve new milestones in its development.

«Relations between China and Kazakhstan have withstood the challenges of a changing global landscape and continue to grow dynamically. This has been made possible not only by our geographical proximity and centuries-old friendship, but also by the natural imperative for the joint development of our two countries. The successful implementation of a number of socially significant projects has brought tangible benefits to the peoples of both nations. I stand ready to join you in further strengthening the friendship between China and Kazakhstan and advancing our multifaceted cooperation hand in hand, so that our bilateral partnership may make an even greater contribution to the development of our region and the world at large,» noted Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Following the talks, 24 intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents were signed, covering cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including energy, aerospace, digitalization, customs regulation, agriculture, e-commerce, tourism, healthcare, media, science, and interregional relations.
