Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with major representatives of IT business and members of the Digital Bridge 2023 international technology forum. The parties discussed mutually beneficial cooperation. Thus, a computing hub for the development of Artificial Intelligence and advanced training of specialists may appear in Kazakhstan. This became known during a meeting between President Tokayev and CEO of the Presight AI Holding Thomas Pramotedham. Negotiations are currently underway with the Samruk Kazyna company to create a joint venture.
Also, the Head of State met with Lauren Dreyer, Vice President of Starlink Business
Operations at SpaceX, who disclosed the company’s plans to expand its
activities in Kazakhstan, particularly aiming to provide remote villages with
satellite Internet in the country.
At a meeting with Tim Draper, the
co-founder of an American venture capital firm and founder of Draper
University, the parties discussed the development of the startup industry. The Head
of State pointed out that Kazakhstan is forming a strong institutional, legal
and financial basis for the creation of a venture capital market. He welcomed
the initiative to film one of the episodes of the famous startup reality show
Meet the Drapers in Kazakhstan as well.
Besides, the Kazakh President
held a meeting with TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew. The parties discussed issues of
global promotion of Kazakhstan’s culture and tourism opportunities through the
popular platform. Shou Zi Chew also spoke about the implementation of the
TikTok StartUp Academy project together with Astana Hub. This is an exclusive
educational program for Kazakh startups.
