Kazakhstan has begun the
production of natural gas and condensate at the Rozhkovskoye field. One of the
major deposits has been put into industrial operation in the western part of
the country. Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov participated in the launch
of the facility via a teleconference. With the development of the field, the
state fund is expected to be replenished by more than half a trillion tenge. The
local budget will increase by 110 billion tenge. Additionally, no less than
three billion tenge is planned to be allocated for the region’s socio-economic
development. As part of contractual obligations, one percent of the investment
amount will be annually earmarked for the training of domestic personnel.
“This project holds strategic
importance and is aimed at fulfilling Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s
instruction to attract investments in the exploration and development of new
gas fields. Overall, more than $530 million of investments have been attracted
to the Rozhkovskoye field, which will become a source of additional natural gas
volumes. By 2040, there are plans to extract more than 14 billion cubic meters
of raw gas and over seven million tonnes of gas condensate at the deposit. The
raw material extracted here will be processed at the facilities of the
Zhaikmunai company, leading to the production of 13 billion cubic meters of
commercial gas and 2.3 million tonnes of liquefied gas,” Smailov said.
“I am confident that the further
implementation of this and perhaps other potential projects will also enable
the accumulation of investments and the realization of economically efficient initiatives.
This will contribute to Kazakhstan’s economic development. There is much work to
be done, in particular, the initiation of the remaining four wells next year.
Furthermore, we are set to explore the subsoil’s potential. Therefore, the
subsequent stages of the development of the Rozhkovskoye field may involve
additional investments, as there is the capacity for increasing both gas and
gas condensate production volumes,” noted Evgeniy Lapshin, managing director
Russia and Kazakhstan at MOL Group.
A few more gas projects are slated
to be launched in the Aktobe, Atyrau, and Mangystau regions. According to
calculations, they are expected to contribute to the production increase by over
two billion cubic meters per year. Additionally, 12 promising geological
exploration projects are being developed jointly with international companies,
and exploration of existing fields is underway. Kazakhstan is also set to build
gas processing plants at the Kashagan and Karachaganak fields, as well as in
Zhanaozen. Overall, the Head of State has set the goal of increasing the
production of commercial gas to 30 billion cubic meters by 2030.
