Kazakhstan–Jordan Business Forum held in Astana

A business forum took place in Astana with the participation of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and King of Jordan Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein. The event brought together representatives of the business communities of both countries. Tokayev noted that the forum will open a new chapter in bilateral partnership. Kazakhstan remains the largest economy in the region, with GDP growth of more than 6 percent this year. The country is actively developing its transit and transport potential. Twelve international corridors pass through Kazakhstan, reinforcing its role as a strategic logistics hub in Eurasia.

«We are actively developing major international transport routes, including Middle and North-South corridors. The Aktau and Kuryk sea ports play a crucial role in facilitating cargo transit across the Caspian Sea. Furthermore, we built a container hub in Aktau with the shipping capacity of 240,000 containers per year. In this regard, we are ready to engage in cooperation aimed at harnessing the strategic potential of the Aqaba port,» Tokayev said.

The Head of State also expressed confidence in the potential of Kazakhstan-Jordan partnership in agribusiness. Kazakhstan is among the world’s ten largest grain exporters. Each year, the country supplies more than 10 million tonnes of wheat and about 2 million tonnes of flour.

«Kazakhstan is well-positioned to supply high-quality organic, halal, and environmentally sustainable agricultural products to Jordan. We warmly welcome the initiative by the Jordanian company Aljazeera Agricultural to launch a breeding farm in Kazakhstan. This project is a concrete step towards solidifying agricultural partnership between our countries,» Tokayev added.

Among the priority areas for mutually beneficial partnership, the President named nuclear energy, digitalization, and the pharmaceutical industry. Both countries have notable achievements in the latter sector. Jordan exports pharmaceutical products to more than 85 countries worldwide, while Kazakhstan has also advanced in the production of medicines and medical equipment. Tokayev welcomed the plans of QazBioPharm and Jordan’s DADvet to jointly export vaccines to the Middle East and Central Asia.
