President Tokayev meets with Ban Ki-moon in China

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with former UN Secretary General and Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia Ban Ki-moon. The interlocutors discussed the international agenda, including the role of the UN in effectively addressing global challenges. The Head of State also outlined the country’s initiatives. Thus, Kazakhstan is set to host the One Water Summit together with France within the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. Also, a Regional Climate Summit will be held in Astana in 2026. Ban Ki-moon emphasized President Tokayev’s significant contribution to promoting peace and harmony in the region, particularly noting that Kazakhstan serves as a vital bridge between the East and the West.

Head of State discusses Kazakh-Chinese relations development with Chairman of NPC standing committee

During his working visit to China, President Tokayev held a meeting with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China. The Head of State extended his gratitude to the leadership of the People’s Republic of China and the Secretariat of the forum for the invitation and organization of the event. The parties noted the dynamic development of cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to bring Kazakh-Chinese relations to a new level.

“Friendly relations and productive cooperation with China are an absolute priority for Kazakhstan. We are instructing all Kazakh government agencies to work closely with their Chinese counterparts to develop a comprehensive strategic partnership. In my speech today, I provided specific examples related to our cooperation, the growth of trade, and the increase of Chinese investment in Kazakhstan’s economy, which certainly hold great significance,” said President Tokayev.

“The Chinese side is ready to work jointly with Kazakhstan to implement significant agreements reached by the Heads of State, to strengthen political trust, and to deepen practical cooperation in order to achieve strategic goals,” said Zhao Leji.
