During
a telephone conversation, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Russian
President Vladimir Putin discussed the prospects for Kazakh-Russian
cooperation. The parties stressed the importance of the full implementation of
previously reached agreements in the trade, economic, and energy sectors at the
highest level, as well as agreed to ensure thorough preparation for Vladimir
Putin’s upcoming state visit to Astana. The heads of state also exchanged views
on current international issues. President Tokayev expressed gratitude for an
invitation to participate in the BRICS summit in Kazan.
