Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev
announced plans to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to launch 19 new air routes
from Kazakhstan to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East this year. In the railway
sector, work will continue on five major projects: Dostyk-Moiynty, the Almaty
bypass line, Darbaza-Maktaaral, Ayagoz-Bakhty, and Kyzylzhar-Moiynty. Following
the meeting, the Head of State instructed to accelerate the construction of the
Center-West highway, expand the Western Europe-Western China corridor, prioritize
the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), and
intensify efforts to attract investment in the transport sector.
«Particular attention was paid to the TITR.
According to the results of last year, the volume of transportation along the
corridor increased by 62%. As for the aviation industry, three airports were
fully modernized through private investment last year, and construction of
another four is planned for this year. The President was also briefed on plans
for the railway industry, with 125 stations scheduled for full renovation in
2025,» Karabayev said.
Tokayev also received Anti-Corruption
Agency Chairman Askhat Zhumagali, who reported on the agency’s work during the first
quarter of 2025. As a result of recent efforts, the state recovered assets
worth 15 billion tenge. The President was also informed about the agency’s
cooperation with the OECD, GRECO, and the International Association of
Anti-Corruption Authorities, whose Executive Committee the agency joined in
February.
