Prime Minister holds meeting of national
headquarters on flood control coordination and elimination of consequences
Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas
Bektenov convened a meeting of the headquarters on flood control coordination and
the elimination of consequences. Over 11,000 people have been evacuated from
the disaster areas, and more than 5,000 people were placed in temporary
accommodation centers. The population is provided with round-the-clock
assistance involving aircraft, over 7,000 people, and more than 2,000 units of
equipment. Repair work on washed-out roads as well as reservoir and river water
levels are under control. Local authorities are taking preventive measures in
regions with a risk of exacerbating flood situations. Additional forces and
means will be deployed there if necessary. Funds from the reserves of the
Kazakh government and local authorities will be allocated for restoration works
and housing construction.
“It is crucial to meticulously
assess all resources and assist people. Starting today, we need to begin
evaluating the damage and promptly commence the compensation process. We have
all the necessary resources for a complete restoration,” Bektenov said.
