Today, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev
held a meeting with Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Ports Group Mohamed Juma Al
Shamisi to discuss the development of the Aktau and Kuryk ports, which is a
strategic goal for Kazakhstan. The Head of State positively assessed
cooperation on the transportation of Kazakh oil along the Middle Corridor to
Azerbaijan. The parties also discussed further prospects for joint work in the
transport and logistics sector. President Tokayev shared plans for unleashing
the potential of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) connecting
Eurasia with the Persian Gulf, Africa and India. Its capacity is expected to
increase by at least 70 percent from nine to 15 million tonnes of cargo by
2027. In this regard, the Kazakh President emphasized the importance of the
agreement between the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) national railway company and
AD Ports Group to establish a joint venture for the implementation of these
projects.
