President of Russia arrives in Kazakhstan on state visit

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin arrived in Kazakhstan on a state visit the previous day. At the capital’s airport, the distinguished guest was met by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. From the moment of crossing the state border until landing at Astana Airport, the aircraft of the Russian President was escorted by Kazakh Air Force fighter jets. An honor guard company was lined up at the ramp of the presidential aircraft. Vladimir Putin and members of the official delegation were greeted by children waving flags of the two countries, as well as drum majorettes. Afterward, helicopters bearing the flags of Russia and Kazakhstan flew over the runway. Inside the airport terminal, dombyra players and international competition laureate Radmir Khaibullin performed a medley of Kurmangazy’s kuis and Russian musical compositions for the Russian leader.

During today’s talks, the Heads of State are expected to discuss the current state and future prospects of strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and allied relations between Kazakhstan and Russia. The Eurasian Economic Forum will also be held with the participation of the leaders of the EAEU member states. In addition, a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council is scheduled for May 29.
