Kazakhstan plans
to expand oil refining capacity at
three refineries, increasing
processing volumes by over 10 million tonnes per year. Energy Minister Yerlan
Akkenzhenov reported to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the current state of
the country’s fuel and energy complex, the progress of key projects, and plans
for further sector development. The minister
outlined plans to complete the construction of CHP-2 in Almaty this year, along
with power plants in the Kyzylorda and Turkistan regions, based on
combined-cycle technology. Updates were also provided on the national project,
Development of Coal-Fired Power Generation. Following
the meeting, the Head of State gave a number of instructions aimed at advancing the sector and accelerating the
implementation of AI and digital technologies in production processes.
