Preparations for referendum underway across Kazakhstan’s regions

Active preparations are underway for the upcoming referendum in the Kostanai region, where 717 polling stations will be open on voting day. Provisions are made for citizens who are unable to visit a polling station due to health reasons, as well as for residents of remote and hard-to-reach settlements, to vote at their place of stay, including at home. Those who will be in a different locality on the day of voting can obtain absentee certificates. In such cases, they must submit a written request to the precinct election commission. On March 15, they can present the absentee certificate at a polling station at the place of actual stay and vote there.

«Any citizen can visit their registered polling station and verify that they are on the voter list. In addition, voters can visit the sailau.ikostanay.kz website, enter their individual identification number, and the system will automatically display their polling station and its address,» noted Alexander Malashko, Chairman of the Election Commission of the Kostanai region.

Nearly 450,000 residents of the West Kazakhstan region are eligible to take part in the upcoming referendum on the new Constitution, according to the Central Referendum Commission. Over 500 precinct commissions will operate across the region to ensure the voting process. On March 11, an open day event will be held for residents, where they will be able to learn about their rights and ask questions regarding the voting procedure. To ensure faster access to information, 14 call centers and a special Telegram bot have been launched. Particular attention is being paid to security and public order. Provisions have also been made for people with disabilities.

«Preparations are being carried out at a high level. Representatives of government agencies have presented their reports. Training of precinct commission members for the referendum is currently underway,» said Shavkat Utemissov, Secretary of the Kazakh Central Referendum Commission.
