Preparations for Kurultai elections begin in Kazakhstan

Preparations for the elections of deputies to the Kurultai were discussed at a meeting of the Central Election Commission in Astana. The elections are scheduled to be held in Kazakhstan on August 23. The key dates of the campaign have already been approved, along with data on the number of registered voters and polling stations. The nomination of party lists is already underway, with registration set to close at 6:00 p.m. on July 23. Election campaigning will commence the same day and run until midnight on August 22. A day of silence will precede the elections. An estimated 12.6 million Kazakh citizens are expected to be eligible to participate in the elections. A total of 10,427 polling stations will operate, 82 of which will be located in 64 countries abroad. More than 70,000 members of election commissions will work on election day. The Central Election Commission also reminded that local authorities must submit voter lists to precinct election commissions by August 2. Kazakh citizens have been urged to verify their voter registration at their place of permanent residence and take part in the elections.
