Astana is gearing up to host the international multisport tournament Games
of the Future. From July 29 to August 9, Kazakhstan’s capital will become the
center of one of the world’s largest phygital sports events, where digital
technologies merge with traditional sports disciplines. The competitions will
be held at four major sports venues across the city. Spectators can look
forward to a large-scale show featuring AI-generated graphics, LED
installations, laser and lighting effects, as well as robotic stage elements.
The opening ceremony and key stages of the international tournament will be
broadcast on the Jibek Joly/Silk Way TV channel. The competitions will follow a
hybrid format: participants will first compete in the virtual environment,
after which they will continue competing in real-world sports arenas.
Kazakhstan will be represented at the Games of the Future by 11 teams competing
in eight disciplines.

think this is going to be a really exciting event for Kazakhstan. For one, it
is being held here for the first time. It’s not just basketball — there are many other disciplines as well. And since
it’s a world championship, there will be many people from abroad,» said Robert
Pan, a PBC Astana phygital basketball player.
