New Constitution to require large-scale legislative revisions

The implementation of the new Constitution will require a large-scale overhaul of the current legislation. This involves making amendments and additions to dozens of laws and subordinate acts, with this work planned for completion by July 1. Senate members and experts discussed the restructuring of the legislative framework and other necessary changes at the Institute of Parliamentarism. Special attention was given to the issue of public participation in the development of new norms. Senate members believe that an effective system of feedback must be established in this process.

«We have adopted the new Constitution, so what work lies ahead for us now? Before it comes into force, the legislative framework will undoubtedly need to be updated. It is important to maintain feedback with the public and understand their needs and expectations. All of this must be taken into account, since we are adopting both constitutional and sectoral laws. All this work should be based on public demand,» said Alisher Satvaldiyev, member of the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament.

«It is necessary to make amendments and additions to more than 60 laws, including constitutional ones. Adopting the new Constitution is important. But for it to take effect, every Kazakh citizen must consciously follow its provisions and see this as a personal responsibility. I believe that this is a task not only for the authorized state bodies but for society as a whole,» said Bibigul Zheksenbai, member of the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament
