Kazakh athlete Chingiz Rakparov completed his performance at the Winter Olympics in Beijing. He took the 38th place in ski jumping and, in the pursuit race, he came 43rd, falling 7 minutes and 35 seconds behind the leader.
“In general, the jump was not bad for me, considering that I was a little sick. It was hard to compete in such conditions. But I'm happy that I performed. For the first time we presented Kazakhstan's Nordic Combined at the Olympic Games,” said Chingiz Rakparov, a member of Kazakhstan Nordic Combined team.
Another Kazakh freestyle skier Sherzod Khashyrbayev failed to pass the qualification stage of men's aerials and reach the next round of the TOP 12. In the first selection, he took the 15th place, in the second he showed only the 19th result.
“This is my first Olympics. I did everything I could. Thanks to all the supporters,” said Sherzod Khashyrbayev, a member of Kazakhstan Freestyle Skiing Team.
On February 16, members of Kazakhstan national team will perform in three sports. Alpine skier Zakhar Kuchin will compete in men’s slalom. Kazakh skiers Nadezhda Stepashkina and Kseniya Shalygina will try to make it to the finals in women’s team sprint. In the quarterfinals of women’s 1,500 meter race, short-track athlete Olga Tikhonova will defend the honor of the country. In total, 34 athletes represent Kazakhstan at the Winter Olympics in Beijing. The Games will last until February 20.
