Kazakh residents collected over one million tonnes
of waste and planted more than 1.5 million trees in 2024. These are the results
of the Taza Qazaqstan environmental campaign. The large-scale initiative of
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, aimed at greening and improving territories, has
involved more than six million people across the country, as reported during a
government meeting. Furthermore, the campaign itself has gained the status of a
long-term concept. A series of measures to improve the environmental situation
in the country are planned until 2029. These include the creation of carbon
landfills, the introduction of automated emission monitoring systems, the
development of relevant legislative amendments, the opening of new household
waste recycling plants, and space monitoring of unauthorized dumps.
