Since gaining Independence, Kazakhstan has built 170 million square meters of housing, with over 1.6 million Kazakh citizens owning it. According to the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, along with the pace of housing construction, investments in the industry are also growing. Last year, they increased by almost 34 percent to two trillion tenge (US$4.6 billion).
Over 38,000 families received state support in the form of social housing and soft loans. Another 98,000 families had the opportunity to move into new apartments due to the implementation of the ‘Bakytty Otbasy’ program. By the end of the year, another 5,000 families will participate in this program. The number of participants of the ‘Nurly Zher’ state program will also increase twofold. 800,000 apartments will be allocated under the program ‘Shanyrak’.
