OTS countries agree to strengthen environmental cooperation

The member states of the Organization of Turkic States intend to implement eight environmental projects. Applications are currently being reviewed. Work on the best initiatives will be carried out over the next two years. This was discussed at the Second Meeting of Ministers responsible for Environment and Ecology of the OTS in Astana, held as part of the Regional Ecological Summit. The parties emphasized that, at a time when countries are facing common climate challenges, it is especially important to strengthen practical cooperation and coordinate joint actions. To this end, the participants adopted a Declaration of the Second Meeting of Ministers responsible for Environment and Ecology of the OTS. The parties intend to exchange experience and digital solutions in the field, as well as conduct joint research. In addition, they plan to attract investment for the implementation of green projects, strengthen cooperation with international organizations, and develop joint road maps in the areas of environmental protection and sustainable development.

«Regarding the OTS, the Turkic Green Vision was adopted at the 2024 Summit in Bishkek. An action plan for the implementation of the Green Vision has already been developed. Each country is presenting joint solutions to address these issues, including those related to the Aral Sea, the Caspian Sea, and water resources,» noted OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev.
