Nur-Sultan to hold Eid al-Adha celebrations online

The Eid al-Adha celebrations in the Kazakh capital will be held online. There will be no traditional Eid al-Adha prayer in the capital's mosques, said Nurdaulet Almukhanov, Head of the Department of Religious Affairs of Nur-Sultan. In addition, the work of markets and farms that have traditionally been used for carrying out the sacrificial rites during the Muslim festival, will be suspended. This is done for sanitary and epidemiological safety reasons in order to prevent mass gatherings in one place. People can perform the ritual of sacrificing animal online through the website of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan. This year, Eid al-Adha will be held from July 20 to 22.

“This website is aimed to provide charity. It’s a kind of bridge that helps people to do good deeds. While at the same time, it will contribute to reducing the risks of infection and benefiting the health of the population. The website has been operating since yesterday and will continue its work until July 22,” said Yerbolat Zhussupov, Chief Imam of Nur-Sultan.
