Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with residents of the Turkistan region during his ongoing working visit. He pointed out the positive changes that have taken place here in recent years. Thus, the volume of attracted investments in Turkistan increased by eight times. The tourism sector was boosted as well. The region is becoming a point of attraction for travelers. About two million tourists have visited the region since 2019.
“Over the past three years, industrial and agricultural production in the region has increased by 1.5 times. About 64,000 permanent jobs were created. Thus, the quality of people’s lives is gradually improving. The state will do its best to upgrade the region. There are still a lot of problems, especially in the social sphere, but what is really important is the enthusiasm of locals. Turkistan residents are very much involved in this regard,” the Head of State said.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commented on the presidential elections in Kazakhstan, noting that one-term election of the country’s President is a crucial reform, which is essential for the nation’s future. He also highlighted that no other countries of Central Asia witnessed such changes. The Head of State also mentioned the country’s position in the international situation. He noted that Kazakhstan has always been neutral, meeting the national interests. And the strength of the country’s people lies in unity, prudence and tolerance, Kazakh President added.
“The territorial integrity of states must be unshakeable. This is a key principle. I have always spoken about this openly and clearly in the international arena. It is no coincidence that in my recent speech at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, I reiterated this issue,” said Tokayev.
Also, the Head of State took part in tree planting activity in the Botanical Garden, together with young eco-activists of the Turkistan region. In conversation with the participants, Tokayev stressed that patriotism begins with honest work.
