Nearly
72 percent of Kazakh citizens voted in favor of constructing a nuclear power
plant in the referendum, according to exit poll data announced by the Institute
of Eurasian Integration. Slightly more than 28 percent of respondents chose the
option «No, I do not agree». The poll was conducted as voters exited polling
stations in 17 regions, as well as in the cities of Astana, Almaty, and
Shymkent. Notably, five other public organizations were also involved in the
preliminary vote counting using exit polling methodology on the day of the
referendum.
