The EXPO site in Astana is being transformed into a next-generation technology cluster. According to the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, up to 500 startups are expected to launch there annually. The cluster will unite science, industry, and technology projects into a single ecosystem, with a focus on integrating solutions into the domestic economy. A network of specialized centers, from robotics and drones to cybersecurity and MedTech, is under development and set to launch by the end of the year. A laboratory for humanoid robots, featuring elements of teleoperation and integration with AI models, is already operational. At the same time, the cluster is developing infrastructure for autonomous technologies. A particular focus is placed on urban mobility. In the second quarter of this year, an autonomous vehicle pilot project is set to launch with the participation of international companies. Delivery drones are also being tested. The project is expected to accelerate the adoption of innovation and strengthen the country’s technological ecosystem.
«In the second quarter of 2026, testing of
autonomous vehicles and delivery drones will begin in Almaty, Astana, and the
Akmola region. At the same time, a network of specialized centers is being
established within the new technocluster, covering robotics, autonomous
technologies, cybersecurity, medicine, the agricultural sector, Industry 4.0,
game development, and esports. The launch of all these facilities is planned to
be completed this year,» noted Zhaslan Madiyev, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial
Intelligence and Digital Development.
