Nauryz with Kazakh flavor was celebrated in many countries.
In Moscow, the holiday was organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia and
took place in the Kazakh pavilion at VDNH (Exhibition of Achievements of
National Economy). The guests of the celebration included compatriots from
various regions of Russia, students, and representatives of foreign embassies.
A concert program showcasing the rich heritage of Kazakh culture was prepared
for them.
Kazakh classical and folk music was also performed during
Nauryz celebrations in the U.S., with American musicians playing ‘Yapurai’, ‘Dudar-ai’,
and ‘Naz Qonyr’ at Harvard University. The concert program featured folk
compositions arranged by contemporary composers. This fusion of musical styles
resonated with the audience, allowing the American audience to explore Kazakh
music culture. During a meeting with Elizabeth Batiuk, Director of the Global
Music Archive at Harvard, the musical score of ‘Qarakemer’ kui for solo violin
and strings by renowned composer Kuat Shildebayev was presented. This
initiative aims to contribute to the promotion of Kazakh folklore in the U.S.
The vibrant holiday of Nauryz was also celebrated in the
historical center of Athens, at the foot of the Acropolis. The event was
organized with the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Greece. On this
ancient land of the Hellenes, guests enjoyed traditional Kazakh dishes, while
Kazakh students studying in the country performed folk compositions on the dombyra.
