Flower-laying ceremonies at the war heroes’ monuments were
held in the Kazakh capital as part of the Victory Day celebrations. Prime
Minister Olzhas Bektenov paid tribute to legendary attack pilot, twice Hero of
the Soviet Union, and Halyk Kaharmany Talgat Begeldinov. During the war, he
carried out 305 combat missions and shot down seven enemy aircraft. After the
war, he continued to serve in the Air Force before he transferred to civil
aviation.
Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev took part in a
flower-laying ceremony at the monument to Hero of the Soviet Union Manshuk
Mametova and observed a moment of silence in memory of all those who gave their
lives for freedom and a peaceful sky overhead. The event was also attended by
representatives of veterans’ organizations, law enforcement agencies, and
members of parliament. Meanwhile, Mazhilis Chairman Yerlan Koshanov laid
flowers at the monument to Bauyrzhan Momyshuly. The ceremony took place on the
avenue named after the legendary commander. The Hero of the Soviet Union fought
in the 316th Rifle Division and later commanded a regiment and division. The
monument to the hero was unveiled in Astana in 2008.
As part of the nationwide events marking the 80th
anniversary of the Great Victory, State Counselor Erlan Karin laid flowers at
the memorial to Hero of the Soviet Union Aliya Moldagulova. This year marks the
100th anniversary of her birth. Various events dedicated to this commemorative
date will take place across the country. The ceremony was attended by members
of the National Kurultai and the Youth Policy Council.
The Head of the Presidential Administration Aibek Dadebay
laid flowers at the monument to Halyk Kaharmany Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev, who
was the first to raise the Victory Banner over the Reichstag. He also honored
the memory of Kazakh soldiers who died in the war, emphasizing the importance
of preserving historical memory and heroic legacy.
