About 400 films were released in
Kazakhstan in 2023, which is 56 more than the previous year. According to the
Bureau of National Statistics, the majority are short movies, while a quarter
of them are feature films, with documentaries and fiction films prevailing in
this category. Domestic movies, which are competitive and in demand among
audiences, accounted for just under half of all cinema visits last year.
Overall, the Kazakh film industry is experiencing growth, as evidenced by
statistical data. A total of 100 studios were involved in film production in
2023, compared to 67 companies in 2022.
