In September, test operations of the LRT are set to begin in Astana. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov was briefed on the progress of one of the capital’s key transport projects. Advanced technologies and high-speed train standards, capable of reaching speeds up to 350 km/h, are being used for the trains. A total of 19 four-section trains, each with 650 seats, will be in operation, all equipped with monitors, cameras, and a set of systems for unmanned train control.

«Training of specialized personnel has also begun. Landscaping will be carried out along the entire LRT line. Test operation of the LRT is scheduled to begin in September and will involve running trains without passengers. The light rail transport project in Astana is being implemented in accordance with the advanced GoA4 standard, which includes a test period of about six months,» noted Assylbek Duissebayev, Chairman of the Board of the City Transportation Systems.
