The production at an integrated gas chemical complex is planned to be launched in Atyrau region in August. The first phase of commissioning has already been completed. Now the company started supplying propane to process units. The loading of the catalyst into the reactors will begin as early as this week. At full capacity, the venture will produce 500,000 tonnes of polypropylene per year. At the first phase, it is planned to release 11 brands of products, and increase the range to 65 in the future.
“It is possible to build about 25 plants for the processing of 200,000 tonnes of polypropylene. It will also be possible to produce building materials and household goods, as well as assemble cars. If such plants are built, it means that they have fulfilled the task set by the President. Participants of special economic zones have certain advantages. These include tax benefits, exemption from import customs duties,” said Saduakas Meraliyev, consultant of the Technical Department at KPI Company.
The first Kazakh-owned gas chemical complex occupies 3,500 hectares in the special economic zone. The largest project in the industry claims to enter the top ten in the world. According to experts, the company will be able to meet not only domestic demand, but also supply products for export.
