Kostanai region attracts 500 billion tenge in investments in 2024

Around 150 renewable energy facilities are currently operating in Kazakhstan, with a total installed capacity of about 3,000 MW. The country is also actively constructing new green energy projects. Next year, four new stations are set to be commissioned in the Kostanai region, including a solar station, a gas-piston station, and two wind power stations. According to the region’s governor, Kumar Aksakalov, these facilities will help reduce the region’s energy dependence. Currently, the Kostanai region consumes four times more electricity than it produces.

«In October of this year, a memorandum was signed for the construction of 165 wind power plants with a total capacity of 1 GW in the area around the city of Rudny, located in the Kostanai region. This is a major project. Once completed, the region’s electricity production will increase tenfold. At present, we produce 0.12 GW, which will rise to 1.27 GW, fully meeting the region’s needs,» Aksakalov said.

Increasing the volume of electricity is essential for the region, especially as it aims to become the center of the country’s automotive industry. This year, four major projects have been implemented: the production of Hongqi and Škoda cars, small-scale assembly of the Chevrolet Onix, and the launch of a car painting workshop. Additionally, a significant joint project with South Korea is underway in the region. The first Kia car is expected to roll off the production line at the new plant by next summer. Construction has also begun on a facility to produce automotive components, including seats and body parts. Overall, the Kostanai region has shown positive dynamics in key macroeconomic indicators over the past 11 months, with industrial volume exceeding 2.5 trillion tenge.
