Kazakh athletes achieved historic victories at the Asian
Winter Games (AWG) in China. The national team secured 20 medals, finishing
fourth in the overall standings with four gold, nine silver, and seven bronze.
Kazakhstan was represented by 137 athletes competing in ten disciplines across
six sports.
«This success once again confirmed Kazakhstan’s prominent
position on the Asian sports stage. A particularly notable achievement was the
historic win in freestyle acrobatics, where Kazakh athletes earned gold,
surpassing China’s top teams. The men's short track team also delivered an
outstanding performance. Another gold medal came from the men’s ice hockey
team, which secured a 5-0 victory over Japan in the final. Biathlon success is
also noteworthy. Vladislav Kireyev won gold in the sprint and silver in the
relay, demonstrating exceptional speed and shooting accuracy,» said Meiramgazy
Sapargaliyev, spokesperson for the Committee of Sport and Physical Education.
