Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan Strengthen Economic Cooperation

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are strengthening economic cooperation. Bilateral trade increased by 16 percent last year, and in the first four months of this year it has already risen by 42%, reaching $2 billion. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said this during a meeting with the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The parties discussed cooperation in industry, energy, transport, water resources, and tourism. Later, Bektenov participated in the fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum. He noted that Kazakhstan supports the deepening of partnerships among countries in the region to unlock Central Asia’s economic potential and presented the updated Investment Policy Concept through 2030. He emphasized that the new Constitution creates additional conditions for enhancing the country’s investment attractiveness. The potential for cooperation in digital technologies was also highlighted.
