Kazakhstan, UK sign Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement

Kazakh and British foreign ministers discussed the development of cooperation between Astana and London during a meeting. The parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to expanding business, trade, and investment relations, as well as advancing mutually beneficial projects and initiatives. This will be facilitated by the newly signed Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, which also includes collaboration in scientific research. David Cameron highlighted that the agreement will double the number of scholarships available for Kazakh students interested in studying in England. Moreover, students will have the opportunity to pursue foreign education without leaving Kazakhstan, as a branch of Queen’s University Belfast will be opened in Almaty. Additionally, the University of Oxford is set to launch Kazakh language courses. During Cameron’s visit to Kazakhstan, several bilateral documents in the fields of healthcare and transportation were also signed.
